Fidelity & Flexibility: Ohio Handle With Care utilizes a standardized approach to the program's implementation to ensure program fidelity while also allowing for flexibility in respect to the strengths of each community. Our standardized approach requires all local HWC programs to work in collaboration with Ohio Handle With Care. Christine Woodgeard serves as the Handle With Care Coordinator for Hocking County, helping to embed trauma-informed practices across the Logan-Hocking School District. As the district’s Project Director, she helps lead initiatives that strengthen school climate, support student well-being, and promote academic and behavioral success. She works alongside school teams to implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) with a focus on creating safe, predictable, and supportive environments where all students can thrive. Christine also developed a student internship program that begins with Handle With Care and builds on PBIS and college and career readiness to give students hands-on, real-world experiences. She collaborates with community partners to connect students with dual enrollment, internships, a career speaker series, and career fairs—extending support from the classroom into future pathways. Christine is committed to removing barriers and building systems that ensure every K–12 student has the opportunity to feel safe, supported, and prepared for success in school, college, and careers.

Sandy Hallett Berkey is the Seneca County Executive Director of the Family and Children First Council (FCFC). In this capacity, she collaborates with various community agencies to enhance family-centered services and support systems for children and families in need. Programs and initiatives led through FCFC include: Seneca Mentoring Youth Links (SMYL), The Seneca County Friendship Club, Impact After School Program, Wraparound, Women Empowering Women in Tiffin and Fostoria, Wraparound, Cares, Girls Empowerment, a reentry coalition and Handle with Care. Hallett has served the children and families of Seneca County since moving to Tiffin in 2007. It was that year that she co-founded Seneca Autism Learning and Support Association (SALSA), a nonprofit organization for autism. She has worked as a Parent Mentor and a Family & Community Liaison for a multi-county region. Sandy is a graduate of Kent State University. She has served on multiple boards in Seneca County including the Seneca County Board of Developmental Disabilities and the Seneca County Council on Homelessness. She has also authored two books on autism: “How Our Children with Autism Raised Us as Parents” and “Raising Ry Ry, My Teenage Son with Autism.”

Dan Gichevski is the Executive Director of Stark County Family Council. As leader in community planning, the Stark County Family Council promotes a system of care that protects and enhances the well-being of children and families by building community capacity, coordinating systems and services, and engaging and empowering families. Dan has worked in the non-profit/government field since 2005, when he began his career as a program manager for men and women returning to their community from incarceration. In 2008, he became employed with Stark Metropolitan Housing Authority as the Section 8 Supervisor. As he continued in subsidized housing, Dan was appointed as the Executive Director of Harrison Metropolitan Housing Authority in 2012. He continued to serve in that capacity until beginning at Stark County Family Council in 2017. Dan earned a Masters of Arts in Non-Profit Administration from John Carroll University where he also completed his undergraduate studies, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a Criminology Concentration. Additionally, Dan is a graduate of the Spotlight Stark County program. Dan is committed to many state and local committees that work towards providing opportunities to youth and their families and help to build a stronger, healthier community.
